Today was the day, both Yrsa and Vidar, a rather unusual couple, have gone through their adult (second) shedding and decided that it was the time for them to finally go through the semi-binding ritual. Vidar was slightly older than Yrsa, and thus her second shedding had taken just a little longer to achieve after his own. But the wait was worth it… because they could now follow their plan.
After brief discussion on both eastern and western semi-binding ritual processes, they had decided to go through the eastern ritual. Sure, most easterner Opexo may look at them with a frown on their faces as they had been courting for a while, but they did their best to keep it secret. Vidar tends to have a big mouth at times, especially when drunk, so word may have slipped a little amongst Yrsa’s family. Hopefully the news didn’t spread from there.
——
Vidar looked absolutely nervous as he looked at his options of clothing. There wasn’t anything that was super formal, but it wasn’t some dirty and tacky clothing either. Perhaps it would pass as good enough to enter the floating islands… it would be strange given he’s a western Opexo, but he was doing this for his and Yrsa’s sake of being able to court freely, without being frowned upon.
His eyes scanned the choices of clothing, before he finally settled with a neat and clean white blouse, with a string that would attach at the top of it, only exposing a wee bit of his chest. Next were the pants, which were all for his pirating days. He hummed to himself as he eyed them, before his tail arose and looked at the options itself. “Mead…” it muttered, almost shaking. Perhaps it was nervous as well. But its eyes were on a pair of black dress pants, which adorned a line of reddish-pink gems along the sides. It was almost too perfect… they matched Yrsa’s palette rather nicely.
He threw everything on, adding a belt to his pants before looking himself at the mirror. He looked rather fancy… for once. Perhaps this would pass and he’d be able to enter the floating islands. He felt a little more confident, though nerves flowed through his veins.
Taking a final breath, Vidar made his way to the floating islands, where he will await for his future mate to show up and get this semi-binding ritual over with.
——
Yrsa looked at herself in the mirror, a small frown on her face. She was never one to dress up so formally, let alone wear a dress… she usually wore more athletic type of clothing to show off her muscles and toned body. But there she stood, wearing a strapped, a-line dress that went from white and ombré‘d down to a sort of reddish-pink and orange to match her palette. Upon the waist area, it began to flow down a little to hide the little curves Yrsa adorns. Her cape fur and teeny tiny wings stuck out of the dress, flowing behind her as if it were a sort of coat. She sighed to herself, turning and looking at every angle. Her tail looked in the mirror as well, giving a smile and nodding its head at the sight. She was ready to go.
The eastern Opexo bid her goodbyes to her family, before she set off to the floating islands, ready to find her future mate and get this semi-binding ritual over with.
——
Vidar was the first to arrive, of course, with the help of some kind eastern Opexo who led him towards the floating islands. His eyes scanned the area; it looked like a rather large ball with several other Opexo dancing the night away, classical music playing in the background and bystanders watching whilst whispering amongst each other. It looked exactly how Yrsa’s mother had described it when she went through the semi-binding ritual with her husband many years ago. But this time, it was a little more modern.
Taking a small breath, the western male made his way through the crowd, avoiding eye contact with other females as many of the easterners watched him in curiosity. Some adorned a small frown, whilst others adorned a more questionable look. It wasn’t everyday you’d see a westerner on the floating islands, after all.
The dance floor was rather packed, but there stood an empty spot at the far back. It almost was perfect for Vidar, perhaps behind hidden from the easterners would be a good idea. He’d be easy to spot, he was the only western Opexo on the floating islands this evening. He made his way towards the spot, before standing there in a semi-confident pose, arms behind his back and eyes gazing anywhere but other females, if they tried to approach him.
He was waiting for one particular eastern woman, and that was Yrsa.
——
It wasn’t too long before Yrsa made it to the floating islands herself, with the help of other eastern Opexo. Her wings were rather small and didn’t adorn the strength to carry her, and thus others were kind enough to lend her a hand. She thanked them with a bow of the head, before making her way through the crowd. Much like her, other females were dressed rather elegantly, maybe moreso than she was, with added jewelry and even makeup. She shook her head, she knew she looked fancy enough for this ritual.
Her eyes scanned the dance floor, whilst her tail even rose to take a look itself. Two sets of eyes looked around the room, watching the many couples dance the night away and the bystanders chitchatting amongst themselves with the loud, classical music in the background.
Eventually, her eyes had landed onto her partner, standing at the far back of the dance floor. He seemed to be scanning the area himself, but their eyes had met. Both adorned a small smile, it was finally time to get this semi-binding ritual started.
Yrsa took her time as she approached Vidar, who bit his lip at the sight of his strong mate in a dress, but kept his cool. The eastern female took a small breath before she began circling around him, eyeing his every feature and taking in the sight of her handsome westerner. She admired his physique, his hair, his horns, his muscles and strength, that handsome yet stupid face she loves… she took it all in. Even his tail, the drunkard who’s obsessed with mead.
The circling went on for about a minute or so, before Yrsa gave Vidar a small but cheeky grin, almost as if she questioned him if he was ready for the next step. It was time to dance.
With a small grin himself, Vidar nodded his head and he too began to circle around Yrsa, admiring the beauty before him. Her tall, strong physique, those tiny wings, the cape fur, her battle scars, those large fangs… just everything about Yrsa was beautiful to Vidar. Even her fluffy and masculine looking tail was pretty cute.
Soon enough, the eastern female began circling with Vidar, extending an arm as if reaching out towards him, hand positioned to grab his own. Even if they chose not to touch each other, they figured having their hands be so close within touch would be good enough. The western male followed her lead, extending his own arm and placing his hand under hers, a few inches apart, as if wanting to hold it.
Vidar had placed his free arm behind his back and folded, right above his tail. Yrsa’s free hand took a hold at her dress, lifting it up slightly to give her feet some free space as she continued to walk in a circle with her mate. They kept eye contact and a smile on their faces, tails even risen up to stare at each other.
“Mead…” Vidar’s tail muttered out, shaking just slightly. It had been sober for days now, and perhaps was even going through withdrawal. But Vidar paid no mind, it didn’t affect him one bit. Yrsa’s tail nearly shook its head but kept contact with it.
The two mates approached each other slightly, still without touching and whilst continuing to walk in circles. Eventually Vidar guided Yrsa’s hand towards the air to let her spin, almost earning a small giggle from the easterner. She spun twice before they continued to walk in circles together, either remaining close or even distancing themselves, hands still near each other without touching.
Hours had passed by… and many of the dancing couples had left the dance floor to resume the final step of the semi-binding ritual. Yrsa and Vidar began to tire, slowing their dance until it came to a full stop. They stared at each other, breathing semi heavily and with a smile on their faces. They ended their dance with a bow, before finally grabbing a hold of each other’s hands and heading to dinner themselves, where they can enjoy a nice meal and a chat about each other and what the future holds for them.
